Possum ---- Little Trooper
10 years | Female | Foster | Friendly | Affectionate | High needs
Possum is a brave and trusting girl. She was being fed as part of a small group of strays living around a layby close to Levin. As the most friendly one, she was easily picked up and went to live with a woman running a small privately funded rescue. However she had multiple health issues and was not coping with the other cats and the 2 dogs, which may have been exacerbating her skin allergies and stomach issues. As the vet bills pilled up due to Possum's high medical needs she reached out to us to see if we could help.
Not long after coming to us Possum was quickly out into an awesome foster home. Sadly due to the steroids that were treating her severe skin condition she developed diabetes. Understandably the fosterer felt she was unable to manage her ever increasing medical needs so Possum came back to us so we could manage her treatment. Thankfully her diabetes has now gone into remission and we have her stable on other medication for her skin and stomach issues.
Possum is a wee Trooper, despite all that she's been through she is so loving and affectionate and we really think she deserves a million chances to get healthy and find her forever home. She is a high needs cat that will require ongoing care for all her health needs.
Due to her health issues Possum is part of our Care for Life foster programme.
Possum will be happiest in a quiet, adult home with no other pets. Someone experienced with high medical needs cats.
